Project Scope
Structural steel package for the Turner Family Visitor Center at Magnolia Mound — including the structural steel frame, roof structure, and front canopy for a single-story glass and metal facility with a translucent polycarbonate panel facade.
Technical Challenge
The glass wall panels were custom-fabricated in Germany to fixed dimensions, requiring the entire structural steel frame to be detailed and erected to a tolerance of ¼" — far tighter than standard steel construction. Any deviation in the frame would have made the imported panels unusable.
Outcome
Steel package delivered to fabrication on schedule. The completed visitor center stands as a clean, modern structure integrated into the historic Magnolia Mound landscape — recognized with three architecture awards including the Architecture MasterPrize for Cultural Architecture.
